STARTER ROTATION Our multi-position starter has a unique way to rotate. The nose will rotate every 9 degrees by using one set of 4 mounting holes. You will see eight bolt holes in the nose, every other one will be used at one time. Remove all Allen bolts, rotate the motor to the position you like and look through the holes. You will see holes aligning with the threaded holes of the starter. (picture #1 shows clearly the open holes which do not line up) With most locations, four holes will line up, in some locations a ring mounting bolt will be in one or possibly two of the holes. If so remove the nose, and remove the ring mounting bolts in the way. When replacing the nose, use the longer bolts for the one or two ring mounting bolts you removed. On some locations, one hole will align with the armature hole in the ring. No bolt is required in that location, three bolts are sufficient. There must be three ring mounting bolts used at all times, either the short Allen bolts or the long Allen bolts. (picture #2 shows 3 short Allen head screws)
